1. Footwear 

- Proper footwear is required

- Please change any footwear outside of the gymnasium

- Looking to keep the gym dry

2. Safety Eyewear

- Recommended but not required

3. Balls Rolling on the Court

- “Ball” must be called immediately to stop play

- The point is replayed

4. Emergency Exits

- There are 2 exits that lead directly outside

5. Balls against the side of the wall for Courts 1 & 4

- Invoke sportsmanship: if you had a play on the ball and the wall interfered, the point is replayed. If you don’t feel you could make a play, the point is lost. If there is a disagreement, the point is replayed.

6. As the tournament progresses, there will be more room for spectators. Please be respectful of people playing games. Please DO NOT walk behind players as the point is in progress. Please wait until the point is over before moving. If you are watching Court 4, you may need to wait at each court. We may need to restrict the number of people in the gym or separate players from spectators (spectators to be only on one half of the gym).

- For spectators, we may request that if you are not playing to stay on one half of the gym- this will be the far side. If you have friends, etc that will be attending, please share the protocol to wait before moving through. The movement of people can be a distraction to those that are on the court. We will ask that spectators use the exit doors to the outside of the building before coming back into the building through the main entrance

- Players in the tournament can use the interior “back door”. We will request the 2 main doors from the main atrium to be locked or we will have a sign to not use these doors as this will affect games in court #1.

Tournament Format:

· We have 3 hours to complete the tournament. Unfortunately, we will not have much time to warm up before games. 

· The Opening Draw will be made available the day before your event by going to ParadiseIslandPickleball.com 

· The format is Round Robin followed by a double knock out main draw

· The Round Robin is a 12 minute timed game or a Game to 11 win by 1, preceded by a 3 minute warm up

• There will be 3 Pools of 4 teams
• All teams will qualify for the double knock out portion of the tournament
• Top 4 teams will receive 1stRound byes
• Pool winners will be seeded #1-3 and receive 1st Round bye plus next best team will also receive a bye
• Points may factor in the Round Robin as it will help determine seedings for main draw
• A win is more important, however first tie break is points for
• For service is determined by a coin flip 
• There is no change of sides during the round robin
• Organizers will call 3 minutes remaining left in the game
• Once time is called, there is NO additional point played, except if the score is tied. The next point is played RALLY SCORING to break the tie
• WE MAY REVIEW THE LENGTH OF EACH ROUND ROBIN GAME to ensure we stay on schedule

The Main Draw will be a double knock out

• If you lose, there is NO backdoor to the gold medal game
• Consolation Bracket winner to play for bronze

• Order of Play:

1. Round Robin to determine seedings

· Seeds #1-4 to receive byes

                     · Seeds #8-12 proceed to Round of 16

2. Main Draw Round of 16

3. Main Draw Quarter Finals

4. Consolation R16

5. Main Draw SF, Consolation QF

6. Court 2- Main Draw GOLD, Best 2 out of 3 to 11 points, win by 1

· Court 3 & 4- Consolation SF

· Court 4- BRONZE, 1 game to 15 points, win by 1

Tournament Rules:

• 2-minute warm up before each match
• Please be on standby for your next game
• No timeouts during the round robin match
• Before the start of each match there will be a coin toss – Velisia (“V”) will come to each court to do the coin toss. Team that wins the toss, will have the rights to choose either to serve or to pick a side.
• Once the game is over, please report the score immediately 
• Line calls – an audible call or hand motion must be made to call the line

I would encourage to avoid replay of points to allow for the play to stand as it is called, however if there is an agreement to replay the point, then replay

• Serving rules:

     The entire score must be called before the ball served

               - If the score has not been called, a replay of the point can be called

                 - Please stop the play and ask the score to be called- do not wait until after the point

• The server must serve to the correct service court (the court diagonally opposite the server). The serve may clear or touch the net and must clear the NVZ (Non-Volley Zone) and the NVZ lines. The service may land on any other service court line.
• We will be taping lines at Hastings CC for a proper regulation kitchen line
• If the serve clears the net or hits the net and then touches the receiver or the receiver’s partner, it is a point for the serving team.
• The moment the ball is served:

               - Neither of the server’s feet may touch the court on or inside the baseline.

                 - Neither of the server’s feet may touch outside of the        imaginary extensions of the sideline or centerline

• Spin serves will be permitted for all games through January 4th

                - The spin cannot be generated with the use of an object such as a paddle.
